NJ Poultry Report

Prices are lower on light type fowl while
sales are too few to report on heavy hens in
early week negotiations. Availability of
leghorns continue fully adequate to ample
and most processing schedules are booked
into neat month. Offerings of heavy hens
are slow to surface, forcing most users to
rely on contractual birds to satisfy require
ments. Demand moderate at best. Under
tone barely steady to weak.

Trucklot buying interest was light for
immediate needs but about as expected.
Supplies of boneless skinless breasts in
trucklot volumes were readily available
and traded at lower prices while smaller
volumes were at least adequate and traded
mostly at 1.80. The trade sentiment was
weak for immediate but rated as fully
steady to firm for next week. Line tun
breasts were available but most buyers
were full until at least next Tuesday.
Drumsticks continued to be burdensome
with shippers asking sharply lower prices,
other dark meat items were adequate.
Wings were also burdensome, prices
trended lower, and the undertone was
weak.

Movement of ready-to-oook whole bird*
was light to fair. Seller offering! remained
fully adequate for immediate needs. Live
supplies were mostly moderate; weights
were mixed in a full range and mostly
desirable to heavy. Processing schedules
continued very heavy. Most plants were set
to dose this Friday or the following Mon
day. Less than trocklot asking prices were
unchanged at SO to 62 cents. Trade senti
ment was about steady. In the pans com
plex, bone-in breasts were not as available
as past few days. Other items were at least
adequate, especially boneless skinless
breasts and wings which remained slow to
clear.
