Grassland FFA Celebrates
National FFA Week
By Andrea Snader
FFA Member
Every year, the National FFA
designates one week a year as
“National FFA Week” in order to
promote agriculture education.
Since agriculture education and
the FFA ensure a steady supply of
young professionals to meet the
growing demands in the areas of
science, business, and technology
of agriculture, the theme chosen
for this year was “Leadership for
America.”
FFA Week was officially held
Feb. 19-26.
This year, the Grassland FFA
decided to undertake a couple of
activities in order to promote the
organization around the Garden
Spot High School. For starters, the
Chapter decorated a s lowcase in
the school hallway. Included was
a miniature replica of a hydropn
ics (plants gorwn in water supple
mented with nutrients) and aqua
culture (fish production) unit such
as the chapter is working with.

HAPPENINGS
The FFA held other activities.
On Monday, alumni members
attended an FFA meeting. There
was also a Rec Night following
the meeting. Tuesday, was “FFA
dress-up day.” FFA members
wore something with the FFA
symbol or name on it. On Thurs
day, there was a faculty and alum
ni buffet held in the school library.
This was sponsored by and run by
the FFA members.
On Friday, the annual Agricul
ture Job Fair and FFA Quiz Bowl
was held. This gave agriculture
education students the opportunity
to gain information on what is
available to them through the FFA
organization, companies, and col
leges. The Quiz Bowl gives teams
of FFA members from different
schools the chance to compete in
order to see who is the most know
tedgable about the FFA.
