Of those local fair winners, 42 were selected to compete for the state contest. For two days during the PS AFC convention, a team of three judges reviewed the actions of and answers given by the women. On Saturday, following a ban quet during which contestants sat at tables with family, or represen tatives of the contestant’s local fair, all 42 were on stage and introduced. All were declared winners, because of the fact that they took it upon themselves to be involved and were already elected local fair queen. Then the five finalists were announced and stepped foward.
