822-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, January 22, 1994 H ♦ 'N* • > m m ' * * ♦ I 1 Karin Ruch Montgomery County 4-H’ers Attend National Congress Isaac Ganges of Telford, Karin Ruch of Green Land, and Danielle Breaux of Salfordville were three of the 38 delegates from Pennsylvania who attended the National 4-H Youth Congress held in Chicago in December. Delegates were selected from the more than 119,000 4-H members in Pennsylvania based upon their record of community involvement, excellence in their selected pro gram area, and leadership skills. They joined more than 1,500 delegates from across the nation in attending the 72nd Annual National 4-H Con gress. jointly sponsored by the National 4-H Council, USDA and private donors. Highlights of the congress in cluded daily programs by major corporate sponsors, visits, to landmarks such as the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Chicago Board of Trade, Cook County Courthouse, and several of the outstanding museums in the Chicago area. Danielle Breaux was a stale winner in the achievement category. Danielle has been involved in 4-H for more than eight years with numerous clubs and projects ranging from livestock, dairy, and veterinary science to geology and environmental science. Danielle has served as a coun selor at Camp Shchaqua, led numerous environmental workshops, and assisted her club as a teen leader. She rep resented Montgomery County at Stale 4-H Achievement Days in the dairy judging event. In addition, Danielle has attended Stale Dairy Judging School and State Farm Show with her dairy animals. She is also involved in marching band, flute ensemble, and concert band at Soudcrton Area High School. Danielle is the daughter of A 1 and Nona Breaux of Salfordvillc. Isaac Gardes was selected in the energy management category. Isaac serves as an officer in the 4-H Livestock Club, Sheep Club, Teen Council, is involved m the Sal ford Community Club, and traveled to Arizona with the Senior Exchange Club. He takes great pride in showing his sheep and has shown successfully in numerous fairs, in cluding the Kimberton Fair, the Allentown Far, Keystone International Livestock Exposition, and the Pennsylvania Farm Show. Isaac has assisted as a teen leader lor three years and has taken on many diverse projects such as gar dening, veterinary science, steer, woodworking, welding, and small engine repair. He has attended Slate 4-H Achievement Days at Penn State. Isaac was named the Montgomery County Outstanding 4-H boy for 1993. He is a sophomore at Christopher Dock Mennomte High School in Lansdale and is the son of Paul and Eileen Cargos of Telford. Karin Ruch represented Pennsylvania in the dog care and training category. A recent garduatc of Upper Pcrkio mcn High School, Karin has been a member of the Teen Council, Senior Exchange Club, International Exchange Clug, Air Rifle Club, and the Secing-Eye Puppy Club, where she has trained numerous puppies for future use as Sccmg-Eye dogs. This seven-year 4-H’or has served as a leen leader of the Puppy Club for the past four years and has had the privilege of attending Capitol Days, camp Youth Animal Programs Bucks County 4-H offers fun and exciting program ming for youth between the ages of 8 and 19 in the follow ing animal science areas; dairy cattle, sheep, market lamb, swine, beef, fiber, or dairy goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, backyard poultry (Including chickens, turkeys, pigoens, and capons), horse and pony, dogs, Sccmg-Eyc puppies, and cals. Youth enrolled in 4-H animal projects will develop hie skills in areas including personal development, leader ship, citizenship, and communications. Youth will also in crease their skills and knowledge related to animal sci ence, animal care, management, and the use of animals and their products. Paul Plummer of Chalfont was also selected as a Na .ional Dairy Goat4-H scholarship winner, but was unable o attend the National Congress this year. Jennifer Ungemach, Palmyra, was one of 38 delegates from Pennsylvania to attend the Nation al 4-H Youth Congress held in Chicago during December. Delegates were selected based upon their community involve ment, excellence in project work, and leadership skills. Ungemach was named a winner in the home environment awards category. Jennifer is the daughter of Carol and George Ungemach and a senior at Palmyra High School. Ungemach, a 4-H member for 10 years, is a member of the Kelly Helpers 4-H Community Club.
