‘Dairy Fun HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.) —Families attending the Pennsyl vania Farm Show should include “Dairy Fun Night” on their schedule. This evening of fun with the dairy industry held Tuesday, Janu ary 11. 1994, in the Small Arena of the-Farm Show Complex, promises to entertain and enthuse all family members. The evening lacks off with a homemade ice cream making con test, the “Churn-Off." Eight entries will compete for three cash prizes in this contest: $3OO first; $l5O second; and $125 third. While chumers make their crea tions, a “Dairy Obstacle Contest” will entertain the crowd. Teams of three will participate in several activities bale stacking, “cow pie” dodging, and milk pouring. All teams will be judged on the time they need to complete each area of the contest. Teams will compete in one of three age categories, 12 and under. 13 to 19, and adults. First, $75, and second, $5O. place prizes will be awarded in each age group. The second annual “Dairy Feud” will follow, with celebrities competing in this popular game show. Using a dairy theme, parti cipants will answer questions such as “What is the first thing a dairy farmer does when he enters the bam?” and “What is a nutrient you would find in milk?” Teams will win points based upon survey /CWpper/Shredtfer 70W ii •s>v -> • V '' T''' \ ' V ' S s ' O'. S^W'* V ' 'M •'S s '' - ' responses. The host of the show will verify participants’ answers with the familiar phrase, “and the survey says?" Before the “Chum-Off” win ners are announced, youngsters and older folks will be able to enter the “milk mustache” contest. Each participant will be given a cup of milk to create the best “milk mustache.” The winner will receive a milk promotion sweat shirt and the “milk mustache” award. All participants will receive consolation prizes. The evening will conclude with a celebrity cow milking and butter making contest Celebrity teams of two will participate in this event. Whether you’re a kid at heart or just enjoy toys, the Sth annual Toy Show Auction, held in conjunc tion with the New York Farm Show, is the place to be. More than 400 toy tractors, implements, and trucks will be sold to the highest bidder on Fri day, Feb. 25, at the Arts and Home Center building of the New York Slate Fairgrounds in Syracuse. Auctioneer Steve Wright of Sidekick Auction in Thimansburg will get the bids rolling at 6 p.m. Proceeds benefit the FFA Alumni Scholarship Fund and the Hamil ton FFA chapter. Last year’s auc tion raised $3,200 for the groups, said Scott Grigor, New York Farm Show manager and coordinator of the Toy Show Auction. Come to the fairgrounds early and tour nearly 300 exhibits of the latest agricultural equipment, technology, and services on dis play during the 9th annual New York Farm Show.
