HESS MAIIETTA HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.) Pennsylvania egg production totaled 474 million during Octo ber, down 1 percent from the October 1992 produedoin, accord ing to the Pennsylvania Agricul tural Statistics Service (PASS). There were an average of 20.9 million layers in the common wealth during the month, down 1 percent from October 1992. Aver age production per 100 layers was 2,267 eggs, compared with 2,271 eggs during the previous October. Egg-type chicks hatched totaled 3.78 million in October, 4 percent less than the 3.96 million one year 03 New Spin On Popular Spreader The L2O2OGT fertilizer and lime spreader offers updated technology and reliability. THE New Leader L 2020 Genera tion Two (L2O2OGT) fertilizer and lime ipreader, introduced by Highway Equipment Co., Cedar Rapidi, IA, is deiigned to inhibit corroiion, reduce bridging, and im prove ipread pattern* compared to the previous L 2020. Suggestions from applicator* throughout the country were u*ed to maintain the qualitie* of the L 2020 and create the L2O2OGT’* updated technology and reliability. This ha* reiulted in a spinner spreader with advanced belt tracking, an advanced paint system, a field-proven Synco-Matic Mark 111 ground speed system, and easy maintenance and adjustment*. Application rates now can be changed and monitored right from the cab with the new generation Synco-Matic Mark 111 ground speed system. The system still has all the ac curacy and dependability found in all OCTOBER 1993 Reprinted Iram FARM CHEMICALSBOCopyrighI 1993 Mateter Piiiliitefig Company Mrightamaann Mounts On Vehicles With Highway, Semi Lancamtmr 'DHEA October Eggs ago. Cumulative egg-type hatch for 1993 is 37.1 million, up 1 percent from the 36.9 million hatched dur ing the same period last year. There were 9.9 million broiler type chicks hatched last month, down 6 percent from October 1992. Cumulative broiler-type hatch for 1992, at 105.3 million chicks, was 2 percent less than the 107.2 million hatched January through October 1992. Egg production in the United States totaled 6.15 billion during EQUIPMENT SPK SHEET New Leader ground speed systems. The 7- and 10-gauge carbon steel hopper is fully welded, caulked, and painted with an advanced corrosion resistant paint system to provide for longer, more reliable service. The hopper body is 96 inches wide to in crease payload and make hopper loading easier. Low Maintenance The stainless steel self-cleaning “tumkleen" idler pulley ensures belt tracking during spreading. The L2O2OGT has a new drive shaft de sign and no bearing hardware for the conveyor, which makes it easy to ser vice the spreader and allows for belt adjustment* within seconds. The new conveyor system is made to last because it has a low-maintenance, corrosion-free 3-ply straight belt con veyer which rides on a stainless steel bottom. The total number of layers during the month averaged 285 million, up 2 percent from the 279 million on hand during October 1992. October egg-type chicks hatch ed totaled 32.2 million, up 1 per cent from last year. Broiler-type hatch, at 580 million chicks, was up 6 percent from October 1992. A total of 21 million turkey poults were placed during the month, 4 percent less than October 1992. A Closer Look ♦ Ability to spread up to SO pounds of fertilizer or 4 tons of lime per acre; ♦ Complete range of conveyor needs, including sturdy bar flight chain and nigged belt-over-chain; ♦ Entire body is constructed of 304 and 409 stainless steel; ♦ Mounts on vehicles with high way, semi or full flotation tires; ♦ Available in body lengths of 10 to 16 feet. A 24-inch wide dual spinner pack age allows for 100% overlap patterns and up to 6S-foot effective swath width. A stainless steel flow divider with a new inverted “V” design re duces product bridging by allowing product to flow precisely and contin uously to the spinners. The stainless steel indicator is easy to read and pro vides repeatable indexing of the di vider settings. The 98% efficient B-to-1 reduction spur gear drive will last the life of the spreader. Uaer>friendly Dave Engel, general manager, Wait! Companies, Cicero, IN, says the L2O2OGT is user- and dealer-friendly because of features like the stainless steel which lasts longer than mild steel A uniform body that fits every style truck replaces the need for a separate body on each style. Also, 6-inch side extensions now are standard, not op tional. In addition, Engel says the ad justment bearings are mounted to last longer and allow for easy service. W >r Flotation Tires
