AlB-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, December 25, 1993 PA Jersey Youth Award, Scholarship Contests Announced The Pennsylvania Junior Jersey Cattle Club is now accepting applications for several awards and scholarships available to Pen nsylvania Jersey juniors. The awards include recognition for outstanding production records, scrapbooks, and other achieve ments. The recipients will be announced at the Pennsylvania Jersey Cattle Club Annual Meet ing, held on April 8 and 9,1994, in Bedford. The PJJCC is seeking entries for Achievement Awards in two divisions. Interested applicants must be the owner of one or more registered Jersey cattle and be between the ages of 9 and 19, as of January 1, 1993. Awards will be given in two age categories; Junior Division, 9 to 13 years of age; and Senior Division, 14 to 19 years of age. These final ists will be interviewed to deter mine the 1994 Achievement Award winners. The Senior Divi sion winner will be entered in the Nadonai Jersey Youth Achieve ment Contest, so any interviews for this age division must occur in early February, 1994. Interviews for the Junior Division finalists will be held just prior to the PJCC Annual Meeting in April, 1994. Juniors can also enter the Youth Production Contest. Interested junior Jersey owners can nominate their registered Jerseys on official DHI or DHIA test for these awards. Members must submit an official individual cow record which bears an issue date from 1/1/93 to 12/31/93. This form is required to give contest officials a 305 2x mature equivalent value for the records submitted. Con testants are only allowed to enter one record per year. Top produc tion records will be forwarded to the National Jersey Youth Produc tion Contest. The PJJCC also selects out standing scrapbook award win ners in two age divisions, 9 to 14 years of age, and IS to 19 years of age. The scrapbooks are to pertain to the contestant’s Jersey pro jects) during the 1993 calendar year. All scrapbooks will be eva luated on bcah the quality and quantity of their contents along HERNIA? This contest is open to active Jersey members of an organized 4-H club, who are 8 to 12 years of age.
