The Lancaster County Society
of Farm Women met in the home
of Barbara Becker. Prior to the
business session, members
enjoyed some social time and deli
cious refreshments served by Bar
bara Decker and Margaret Bucher.
Roll call was answered by
members naming their favorite
childhood author. Nineteen mem
bers and one guest attended.
During committee reports, Mar
garet Bucher reviewed the bus trip
plans to see the “Spirit of Ameri
ca” play on June 17.
Ann Landis for social commit
tee stated the table favors for State
convention had been made.
Mary Clark had been visited
several times by Sarah Weber of
Sunshine Committee.
Martha Jane Brubaker stated
the next breakfast is scheduled for
December the 11th at 9 a.m. at
Chimney Comer.
Marion Fuhrman reminded
members the next meeting for
member sof Society 1 will be on
December 4 and will be held in the

Beenleigh, a town near Queens

and recreational areas. For the sec
ond week’s homestay, the Friend
ship Force Ambassadors will,
travel to Casterton, a farming
town of 2.500 people in southwest
Victoria about mid-way between
Melbourne and Adelaide. Not far
away, along the coast of the
Southern (Indian) Ocean is some
of the most spectacular scenery in
Australia. Finally there will be
two nights* hotel stay in Sydney
with a harbor cruise, city sightsee
ing tour, and some free time
before returning to the U.S. The
cost of the trip is approximately
$2,500, including most of the
expenses within Australia. Also, a
one-week tour of the Outback may
be available at an additional cost
