David Anderson, 17, Mercer was named Outstanding 4-H Boy and Samantha Reis, 16, Greenville was named Outstanding 4-H Girl at the Mercer 4-H Achievement Night Awards recently at the Mercer County Cooperative Extension Center. Mercer 4-H members were hon ored for service to the various county 4-H clubs, according to Beth Lair, 4-H extension agent David is the son of Kenneth and Karen Anderson, Mercer. The Mercer Area High School senior has been involved in 4-H for 11 years (he joined in the Tag-Along program before it ended, accord ing to Lair), and has extensive experience in wood science. Some of the work he docs in the 4-H also helped him gamer recent Eagle Scout recognition. Samantha is the daughter of Jacob and Joyce Reis, Greenville. The Greenville Area High School senior has been involved in 4-H for HAPPENINGS Somerset 4-H Horse Show Winners Somerset County 4-H horse members received 10 awards at the 34th annual state 4-H Horse Show held recently at the State Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. County winners in 4-H performance classes were Bobbi Darr, 3rd place pleasure driving; Jessica Darr, 3rd place draft horse single cart and Bth place western pleasure horses (over 14.0 hands, jr. rider); Mindy Davidhizar, 9th place saddle type pleasure ponies; Amanda Decker, 2nd place draft horse single cart; Cherie Green, Bth place hunt er seat equitation (overjumps) Sr. Division; Scott Norris, 7th place, saddle seat equitation Sr. Division; and Cindi Strelko, 10th place, clover leaf barrel race pony.
