ATLANTA, Ga. Four Penn State College of Agricultural Sci ences students participated in the Midwestern and International Intercollegiate Dairy Product Eva luation contests in October in Glenview, 111. at Kraft and at The Dairy and Food Expo ’93 in Ata lanta, Ga., respectively. The team of Amy Fuller, Amy Musser, and Michele Rager placed eighth of 12 teams with third place in both butter and cheddar cheese. Michele led the team with indi vidual placings of second in but ter, sixth in cheddar cheese, and was the third high individual among 36 contestants at the Mid western Regional Contest. Linda Marshall judged as the alternate. Her scores would have placed her as the third high indivi dual in both butter and strawberry yogurt, and as high as the fifth individual in the contest. Linda Marshall led the team with a 21st place individual ranking in all products among the 60 contestants, and was the second high individual in strawberry yogurt. Michele Rager was the third high individual in cottage cheese and was in the top 50 per cent as an individual in all products. Three of the four students had evaluated dairy products three times a week since early July. There were eight samples of each of six dairy products milk, van illa ice cream, cottage cheese, cheddar cheese, butter, and straw berry yogurt. Funds were provided by the dairy industry, individuals, and student activities to cover expenses for participation in the pies from stores. The students were trained and coached by Sidney E.
