Do they realize that farm machinery can only go 20 miles per hour on the road? Do suburba nites comprehend that a fanners* fields are die source of his income and not a public park for the community? These are the type of issues that cause confrontations between far mers and their non-farm neigh bors. Dairy farming can continue to prosper in developed areas, but both sides need to understand each other’s concerns. Granted, it is more difficult if you are the last farm in the township, but even in this case there have been success stories. The key to a successful farm/, city relationship is for both sides to get to know each other. Farmers that take the attitude that they were here first and neighbors have to accept whatever they do are just as bad as the new homeowner who has moved to the country, but doesn’t want to tolerate any nor mal fanning activities. At one time, most people in this country had a relative that fanned. Today that is not true, and all too often they think food just appears out of nowhere on the supermarket shelves.
