REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio
Ten of the most genetically super
ior Guernseys are being recog
nized by the American Guernsey
Association with the release of the
top 300 cows for cow perfor
mance index.
Animals that make the list are
cows that produce, reproduce and
pass on desirable traits to their
offspring. The ratio for these
indexes is five protein to one fat to
one predicted transmitting ability
for type.
This list is frequently used as a
screening tool by artificial insemi
nation organizations for selecting
dams for tomorrow’s A.I. sires.
The following are highlights of
the top 10 CPI cows in the breed.
Spring Walk Victorys Streak:
An 89 point Bettswards Telestar
Victory daughter. Spring Walk
Victorys Streak made her own
“streak” to the top of the July 1993
high CPI list. Moving from third
to first with a CPI of +424,
“Streak” has USDA PTA totals of
