Distinguished Service Award This award has traditionally been presented to someone who has made outstanding contribu tions to the Maryland Holstein As sociation and its membership other than in the category of a breeder and owner of registered Holsteins. This year, the commit tee met and decided that deserving people who have made outstand ing contributions, even though they also may be breeders, should not be overlooked. In the 19705, Hoff began as a direc tor, serving as vice president and president along with finance com mittee, show committee, and a long-time chairman of the breed improvement committee. The As sociation owes much of its success and financial backbone to the suc cessful leadership Hoff gave to hosting the National Holstein Convention in 1981. In 1989, Hoff was elected a na tional director of the Holstein As sociation to represent Maryland and the southeast territory. Marlin is faithful and hardworking, at tending more state functions and board meetings than any recent predecessor. He serves on the genetic advancement committee and is a trustee for the Holstein Foundation. He is instrumental in taking steps to split winter forums into two groups, enabling more members to participate. Straight heavy duty spindles lower the gear, allowing an overall lowering of the center of gravity of the grain box. We recommend using this gear with our 365 bushel box. t Adjustable reach pole for 86” to 128” wheel base.
