ELIZABETHTOWN (Lancas
ter Co.) A senior 2-year-old
red and white Holstein shown by
Jason Wivell, of Elizabethtown,
was named Thursday as the
supreme cow of the Elizabethtown
Fair youth dairy show.
The Elizabethtown dairy show
had a total of S 9 cattle entered rep
resenting three breeds
Ayrshire, Jersey and Holstein.
The judge for die show was Bill
Curley, from Montrose, Susque
hanna County.
With his honor, Wivell main
tained a family run on the tide
his older sister Janell showed last
year’s supreme champion, a
4-year-old dry Holstein cow.
But while JanelTs Holstein was
last year’s open division reserve
champion, Jason’s red and white
Myerose Katherine-Red was
named this year’s grand champion.
Jason said the cow was a Christ
mas present from Kenneth Meyer,
the animal’s breeder and for whom
Jason works. According to Meyer,
the 2-year-old is projected at
20,000 pounds of milk and was
sired by Howard-Home Caveman.
Wivell, son of Joseph Wivell
and Becky Wivell, keeps his cows
at his father’s farm. Donegal Creek
Farm, in Columbia.
Wivell’s other animals placed
fairly well: a 4-year-old was first in
its class; the daughter of Kather
ine, an intermediate calf, placed
third; and his entries earned him a
first place dam-and-daughter class
-win.
The reserve grand champion
Holstein in the youth division was
a 2-year-old shown by Jason
Brandt. The reserve grand champ
ion of the open division was a
3-year-old shown by Ty Long.
The junior champion Holstein in
the youth and open division shows
was shown by Fran Kennel. The
reserve junior Holstein champion
was show by Rueben Kennel.
In the Jersey show, the Dice
family took all honors with Dianne
showing the open division grand
champion, a 5-year-old Bona-
Kling Pawn Autum Treat Noel,
sired by Springdale Black Pawn.
