A senior 2-year-old red and white Holstein shown by Jason Wivell, of Elizabethtown, was named Thursday as the supreme cow of the Elizabethtown Fair youth dairy show. The Elizabethtown dairy show had a total of S 9 cattle entered rep resenting three breeds Ayrshire, Jersey and Holstein. The judge for die show was Bill Curley, from Montrose, Susque hanna County. With his honor, Wivell main tained a family run on the tide his older sister Janell showed last year’s supreme champion, a 4-year-old dry Holstein cow. But while JanelTs Holstein was last year’s open division reserve champion, Jason’s red and white Myerose Katherine-Red was named this year’s grand champion. Jason said the cow was a Christ mas present from Kenneth Meyer, the animal’s breeder and for whom Jason works. According to Meyer, the 2-year-old is projected at 20,000 pounds of milk and was sired by Howard-Home Caveman. Wivell, son of Joseph Wivell and Becky Wivell, keeps his cows at his father’s farm. Wivell’s other animals placed fairly well: a 4-year-old was first in its class; the daughter of Kather ine, an intermediate calf, placed third; and his entries earned him a first place dam-and-daughter class -win. The reserve grand champion Holstein in the youth division was a 2-year-old shown by Jason Brandt. The reserve grand champ ion of the open division was a 3-year-old shown by Ty Long. The junior champion Holstein in the youth and open division shows was shown by Fran Kennel. The reserve junior Holstein champion was show by Rueben Kennel. In the Jersey show, the Dice family took all honors with Dianne showing the open division grand champion, a 5-year-old Bona- Kling Pawn Autum Treat Noel, sired by Springdale Black Pawn. Edward also showed the reserve grand champion Jersey in the youth division, and the junior champions in both divisions. In die Ayrshire show, Elizabeth Spickler showed the youth and open show junior champions and the grand champions. There were no senior-aged Ayrshires shown.
