Calf market responded to wont heat wave
in 10 years. Temperature reached 102
degrees with heat index of 112 degrees.
Demand for yearlings good; demand for
calves light to moderate. Calf supply aver
age to very attractive in quality but mostly
soft Overall, quality and conditions better
for buyers than last week; quality of year
ling supply average thru attractive with
average to slightly thin flesh. Weigh-ups
average to several full but still an improve
ment for buyers from last week. Slaughter
cows Sl.oo-52.00 higher with excellent
demand. Slaughter bulls steady to $l.OO
lower with light demand. Receipts this
week 10,050; last week 11,300; last year
7,666. Supply consisted of 66% yearlings
and calves over 600 lbs; 26% calves; 8%
cows and bulls. Pricesdollow with weight
ed average weight and price in parenthesis.
