    The Joseph Blank family moved from Lancaster County to Snyder Coun
ty in 1974. In 1990 Joseph and his wife Grace and son Kenneth and his wife
Jo Ann went Into partnership and bought the farm. Now their 135 acres has
been named a Dairy of Distinction. They have 65 Registered Holstelns and
young stock. The herd average Is 20,400 lbs. of milk. Once each year In April
the entire fifth grade student body of the Shlkallemy School District are
invited out to the farm so that all students get experience on the dairy farm
and how the environment is cared for. Located three miles west of Middle
burg, the Blanks raise corn and alfalfa to feed the Holstelns. Kenneth and Jo
Ann have a daughter Jannette, who Is two years old.

Calvin and Linda Fisher, Jr., Selinsgrove, In Snyder County, farm 250
acres of com and alfalfa to feed their 150 Holsteins. They have a tree-stall
barn and milking parlor, and the 75 milk cows have a herd average of 19,600
lbs. of milk. The farm has been In the family about 200 years and is desig
nated a Century Farm as well as Dairy of Distinction.
