Chester 4-H Beef Club Holds Summer Center Fund DOWNINGTOWN (Chester Co.) The Chester County 4-H Beef Club recently kicked off its 1993 show season with the annual summer beef show held at the Devereux Show” Barns in Downingtown. Months after "Selecting a club calf, all the hard work in teaching the animal to lead, along with the feeding and grooming, should pay off with a /blue ribbon. The Chester County 4-H Beef Club members introduce Romano, a steer purchased by the club’s own treasury to be sold later this year to benefit the new 4-H Center. Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service employee and chairperson of the event, Sherri Elders, said although the re gistration sheets contained only 1,700 names, several of the hosts and volunteers she conferred with estimated at least half of those at tending didn’t register. “If that is the case, we had well over 3,000 people attending,” said Elders, “but we’ll say 2,700 to be on con servative side.” Despite temperatures in the 90s, and humidity pushing the heat in dex over 100, a constant, gentle brcc/c permitted guests to com fortably view the acres of crops, woodlands, and pastures from tractor-drawn wagon tours or on foot.
