In order to meet the needs of current and future customers, a new position has been deve loped. The DHIA staff is pleased to welcome Marcel Poirier to the Ithaca center as Afikim Technical Engineer. He is rounding out the DHIA dairy manage ment group that, among other tasks, takes responsibility for Dairy Comp 305 and Afikim sales and support. The dairy management team will be trained in all areas of DHIA records and dairy management technologies systems. Marcel will assume primary responsibility for Afikim installations and service. Bom and raised on a dairy farm in Malone, NY, Marcel has been a Northeast DHIA Field Supervisor for over 10 years. In addition to his background in dairy management records, Marcel is an exper ienced electrician. His unique combination of dairy management expertise, technical knowledge and genuine interest in the success of dairy producers will be a great asset to customers in ihe Northeast. The Afikim cow management system is the most advanced sys tem for electronic herd management informa tion. It measures pro duction, activity and conductivity for each cow in the herd. Once a baseline is established, deviations are flagged for the operator. The system reliably alerts herd managers to cows likely in heat, have mas- ic. Smokers’ Allegen Farms, Genesee.
