That’s the Kempton Coun try Fair in a nutshell a whole weekend filled with nonstop entertainment starting Friday evening, June 18, and continuing through Sunday, June 20. Once again Kempton brings the best that the country music circuit has to offer, plus tractor pulls, off road four wheel drive races, and all sorts of exciting activities that go with a summer fair. And as always, new things have been added: a children’s pedal tractor pull and a teeter-totter (balancing tractors on a see-saw), and on Friday, two additional modified stock classes in the trac tor pulls. Sally Starr’s show, Popeye Theater, was a hallmark of the 1960 s and early 1970 s television. Starr brings her own brand of country music. The key performer for Saturday afternoon. Children’s Day, Sal will be on stage at 3 p.m. and again at S p.m. The top feature on Saturday evening will be Connie Smith, who will head the 7:15 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. shows. Other events for the Kempton Country Fair include a 30-year celebration of tractor pulls. Begin ning at 6 p.m., visitors can relax on the hillside while farm stock tractors grunt and groan in an effort to pull their loads. Contests will be held in the 5,500 to 7,500 pounds, 9,500 to 11,500 pounds, and 13,500 to 15,500 pound clas ses. Two modified stock classes have been added this year in the 8,000 and 10,000 pound groups. Also, competitions have been arranged in the single wheel, 4x4 strictly stock pickups in the 6,200 pound class. A rain date has been announced for Saturday at 4 p.m., if necessary. Saturday, Children’s Day, will be marked with reduced rides from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., and a bicycle to be given to a lucky child at a 4 p.m. drawing.
