announced by the state officials.
Included on the schedule are
national, state, regional and local
shows, meetings and sales, which
are set to occur from June through
October.

your better cows. A better goal is to correct the cause of the problem so you,have fewer
reproductive culls.
It is also expensive to hang onto non-breeders too long. How long is too long?
That's difficult to answer because there are so many variables. A repeat breeder becomes
expensive when; 1.) her production drops and she keeps a better, more profitable cow out
of her stall, 2.) her health and breeding costs escalate, 3.) she remains dry too long, gets
fat and runs the risk of having calving-related problems next lactation, 4.) she calves in
the heat of the summer, or S.) her calving time gets pushed out of the base-building
period.
If you are trying to maintain a milk base, it may be wise to have cows calve
throughout the year rather than having a seasonal herd. When one group of cows move
out of the base-building period because of longer calving intervals, another group with
similar calving intervals can slide into the base-building slot.
