Cecilia Ann Martin will be crowned the 1993-94 York County Dairy Prin cess during pageant ceremonies scheduled at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at the York 4-H Center. A 16-year-old sophomore at Spring Grove Area High School, Cecilia is the daughter of James and Rosene Martin, Spring Grove R 3. She owns one animal in the Martin’s 90-cow dairy operation and is employed on the family farm. Cecilia plans to attend Bridge water or Eastern Mennonite Col lege following graduation to pursue a degree in elementary education. She is active in school musical programs, with her church youth group, and enjoys working with rodeo horses. Along with the coronation of a new princess, five young ladies from the county’s dairy industry will compete for Dairy Maid and Dairy Miss titles. Dairy Maid contestants are between ages 13 to 16 and assist the Dairy Princess with county Pageant Planned promotional appearances. Entrants in the Dairy Miss contest are Kelly Myers and Tanya Thoman. Kelly, 16, is the daughter of Carolyn and Morrell Myers, Tho masville R 2. She is a sophomore at Spring Grove Area High School and plans to attend Penn State, with a career goal of veterinary medicine. The owner of two Brown Swiss animals, Kelly is a member of 4-H dairy and dairy judging, secretary of her school class and a member of the school track team. Tanya Thoman, 13, is the daughter of Gail and Gary Tho man, Thomasville R 2. She is a seventh-grade student at Dallas town Middle School, and a mem ber of the school’s symphonic band, select chorus and volleyball manager. Active in 4-H dairy, dairy bowl and Junior Holstein clubs, Tanya owns nine Holstein animals. Entrants for the Dairy Miss contest are between ages 6 and 8 and assist with selected dairy promotional events within York County. Contestants are Lisa Jones, Racchcl Kilgore, and Erin Marks, Lisa Jones, 6, is the daughter ol Patricia and Dennis Jones, Lis burn Avenue, Shrewsbury. She is a first-grade student at Southern Elementary School and enjoys helping to feed calves on the Delta farm of her uncle, Leonard Greek. Raechel Kilgore, 8, is the daughter of Pam and Doug Kil gore, Airville R 2. A second grader at Clearview Elementary School, Raechel feeds calves and helps with moving cows and milk ing chores at the family farm. Erin Marks, 9, is the daughter ol Barbara and Melvin Marks, Air ville Rl. Erin is in the third grade at Clearview Elementary School, and helps with feeding and watci ing of heifers and moving the fam ily’s dairy herd to pasture. Current dairy princess Shannon Doll, Brodbccks, will perform her final official duly as she crowns the new princess and makes her farewell presentation at the annual pageant.
