Come and join the activities that are guaranteed to have something for everyone at the Manheim Christian Day School (MCDS) 17th annual Dutch Country Bene fit Auction on Friday, April 23, and Saturday. April 24. Scheduled for Friday are a chicken barbeque dinner, 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. and the opportunity to preview the hundreds of auction items. All craft and baked good stands will be open. At 7:00 p.m. bedding plants, selected certifi cates, toy tractors, “My Home Towne” wooden miniature of MCDS building and miscella neous items will be up for sale. The annual winross Truck Auc tion will begin at 8:00 p.m. and include trucks from Wenger Feeds, N.G. Hershey & Son & Manheim Auto Auction and a Winross Case that holds 52 trucks. A Country Breakfast will be served Saturday morning from 6:00 to 10:00 with a choice of pan cakes and sausage or egg omelet. At 9:00 a.m. Ned Foltz pottery, Manheim crocks, wooden clothes tree, oak cabinet with glass door, oval marble top table and other furniture, antiques and collectibles will begin to cross the auction block. Many local businesses have donated certificates for merchan dise or services, and these will be sold at 11 a.m. A fine collection of originals, limited and open edition and prints will grace new walls after this years Art Auction. Up for bid at 12:00 p.m. will be “Star Bam” by David Brumbach, “Country Ride” and “The Old Country Store” by P. Buckley Moss, “Reconniasence” by Ned Smith, Manheim “Town Clock and “Water Pump” by Dan F. Barthold and “Watt & Shand” by Lisa Lancaster Farming, Saturday, April 17, 1993-B5 ly Day am Madenspacher to name only a few. Specials features this year include a “Brick Farmhouse” doll house by Benjamin E. Brubaker, 3-D handcrafted painting “Thrashing Scene" by Abner Zook, an autographed football by Manheim Barons 1992 District 3 Champs, “Midway One-Room Schoolhouse 1952” by Linn Longenecker and a 20-25-foot pin oak tree and will be sold at 12:30 p.m. Those with the highest bid will become owners of the 40 quilts to be offered at 1:00 p.m. A special feature quilt “Trip Around The World” is multi-colored and pieced by Lizzie Longenecker, age 104. Lizzie is a quest at the Ml. Hope Home and this is the last of her work that her vision has allowed her to create.
