Pen nsylvania fanners intend to harvest fewer acres of most commodities in 1993. Intended plantings of com are 1,360,000 acres, down 1 percent from last year. All wheat, at 170,000 acres, is down 11 percent from last year. Barley planting intentions are 90,000 acres, down 5 percent from the 95,000 planted in 1992. Intentions are to harvest 3,700 acres of Southern Maryland-type tobacco, 3 percent less acreage than a year ago. Acreage harvested of Pennsylvania seed leaf type tobacco is expected to be 7,000, unchanged from last year. Expected oats planted acreage is 210,000, down 9 percent from 1992. Expected oats acreage for harvest is a record low 185,000,10 percent less than last year. Soybean planted acres is intended to be 280,000, 3 percent less than the 290,000 planted last year. All hay for harvest inten tions in 1993 is 1,880,000 acres, down 1 per cent from last year’s harvest. Pa. All wheat planted acres are estimated 72.3 million acres, up fractionally from last year. Barley producers intend to plant 7.7 million acres in 1993, down 2 percent from last year. Soy bean prospective plantings at 59.3 million acres arc down fractionally from last year. Hay acreage harvested is expected to be 60.3 million, 1 percent more than a year ago. Oat producers intend to plant 8.1 million acres this year, up 2 percent from 1992. Oat producers expect to harvest 4.4 million acres, 2 percent less than 1992. All tobacco growers intend to harvest 751 thousand acres in 1993, down 3 percent from 1992.
