State Ayrshire ULSTER (Bradford Co.) The 1993 Pennsylvania Ayrshire Association’s conven tion, meeting and heifer sale is set for April 2 and 3 at the William stown Inn, in Towanda, associa tion representatives announced this week. The association is also seeking applicants for its Aryshire princess contest and entries for a dairy show, both of which are to be held in conjunction with the convention. “As always, there are a lot of activities going on this weekend and we want to let all the friends, members and enthusiasts of the Ayrshire breed to know ahead of time, so they can plan a fun-filled weekend with us,” according to a news release by Ben and Kathy Hillyard, who are chairing this year’s event committee. For the heifer sale, scheduled to held during the evening on April 2, Wayne Weaver is to return to serve as auctioneer, and consignments are already coming in, according to the news release. “Rob and Bonnie Wentworth are sending up a September cal; out of Minechoag Seeker. Her dam is a 2-year-old milking 16,000 pounds,” according to thi Hillyards. Plum Bottom Farm has con signed a bred heifer due June 15. The sire is Peter, a bull from the Taurus lineup. The heifer’s dam is Ardrossan C. Boy Rose Lawn with a first lactation record of 15,000 and a lacation record started as a S-year-old which resulted in 16,000 pounds of milk. In other events, Dick Packard is to judge the dairy show scheduled to be held on April 3. Rob and Sha ron Nolan are managing the show. Entry and entry fees should be sent to the Nolans by March 19. The calves- arid heifers-Orily (no milking animals) show includes an entry fee of $5 per head and offers competition in seven age classes, “best three females” and “best bred and owned” classes, and a junior division and senior division for first year showmanship. The age classes are intermediate calf, Dec. 1,1992 to Feb. 29,1993; senior calf. Sept. 1, 1992 to Nov. 30,1992; summeryearling, June 1, 1992 to August 31, 1992; junior yearling March 1,1992 to May 30, 1992; intermediate yearling, Dec. 1, 1991 to Feb. 28, 1992; senior yearling. Sept. 1,1991 to Nov. 30, 1991; and unfresh 2-year-olds bom before August 31, 1991. Those animals consigned for sale are automatically entered in the show and do not require an entrance fee.
