Welk, a southern Lancaster County dairy fanner, was recently elected to serve on the County Agricultural Stabiliza tion and Conservation Service (ASCS) Committee for another 3-ycar term. He was elected by community committee delegates at the annual convention held De «ember 21. 1992 at the Farm and Home Center. Welk, of 231 West State Street, Quarryville, will represent the farmers from six southern Lan caster County communities in the dministration of ASCS farm pro grams beginning in January 1993. He had previously served as a field and office assistant with ASCS for three years, beginning in 1972, and as a performance su pervisor and chief field assistant from 1976 through 1980. He also served as a community commit teeman representing Eden, Bart, and Sadsbury Townships for six years before being elected to his first term on the County Commit tee in 1990. 1 Also elected at the county con vention were A. The grand champion market lamb was sold by Taryn Rockwell, of Carlisle, to Hoss’s Steak and Sea House for $9OO. The reserve champion sold by Jeremy Dobbin, of Halifax, to Kessler Inc. for $l,lOO. The grand champion steer shown by Lewis Moore, of Ostcr burg, sold to Hoss’s for $15,000. The old record was set last year by Hoss’s with a price of $25,000. And the reserve grand champion steer a Limousin, was sold by Joh nathan Lori, of Scottsdale, to C&C Cattle and Sugar Maple Leaf Farm for $4,100.
