The 1993 Animal Housing Expo will be held July 13-14 at the Lebanon Fairgrounds in Lebanon County. ‘The Animal Housing Expo is an oportunity for livestock, dairy and poultry producers in the Northeast to learn about available building sup plies, livestock equipment and services,” says general chair Daniel McFarland, associate exten sion agent for Penn Slate Cooperative Extension in York County. More than 1,400 people attended last year’s expo to leant more about building and remodel ing considerations, computerized ventilation systems, dairy calf and heifer housing, calf weaning hutches, frecstall designs and beds, hazards to farm workers and nutrient run-off from farms. The 1992 Animal Housing Expo featured 28 commercial exhibits and many educational dis plays. The expo committee plans to increase this year’s exhibitor participation to fully represent dairy, livestock and poultry housing concerns. The committee is seeking exhibits on building designs and materials, healthy and comfortable animal environments, materials storage and handling, animal handling equipment and labor efficiency. Businesses and individuals interested in exhi biting at the 1993 expo should contact exhibit committee chair Leon Hoover, 410 East Lincoln Avenue, Myerstown, PA 17067, (717) 866-7565. In addition to commercial exhibits, there will be a variety of denominations and discussions. Last year’s event featured discussions on remod eling as opposed to new construction, site selec tion and building location, lenders concerns, reg ulations, animal environment and well-being and manure management. Nationally recognized experts are currently being scheduled to address various animal housing issues. The event will be conducted by Penn State Cooperative Extension in cooperation with local agribusinesses. Mill HERNIA? No hernia is unrepairable, even after sev eral previous failed attempts.
