In my last article on Herd Man
agement Award changes for ’92,
and prior to that article, we looked
at the monthly report changes.
The monthly reports had many
changes and one in particular that
seems to have generated a lot of
calls: the printing of the monthly
report on both sides to reduce the
amount of paper.
The Monthly Lactation Report
and Reproductive Management
Report prints the 3rd page on the
back of the 2nd page and, if your
herd has more than 117 cows, the
sth page will print on the back of
the 4th page.
For larger herds, the same will
occur for preceding pages, after
the Ist page, of every report that

STATE COLLEGE (Centre Co.) —This data is pulled from Pennsyl

representing approximately one-fourth of the herds on test, as they are
tested monthly.
These data are valuable from a business management standpoint and
can be used for comparing your operations to the averages from almost
1,400 herds across the state.

Monthly Report Information
lists the individual cows. This
change will help in keeping the
postage down when the unbun
dling takes place in January.
I will try to explain the reason
for eliminating color and changing
the size of the reports.
The size change was made so
that we can utilize the laser
printer.
The colored pre-printed forms
that you were accustom to receiv
ing were changed because of the
expense of those forms.
When ordering pre-printed
forms, to get the best price, we
ordered in large quantities. There
fore, when program changes were
suggested, we were unable to hon
or those changes until the pre
printed forms stock was depleted.
This change should save the
association about $35,000 a year.
