Fanning, Saturday, October 17, 1992 I 111 HAPPENINGS Adams Leaders Banquet Adams County 4-H leaders were honored for their years of service to Adams County youth through the 4-H program at the annual 4-H Leader’s recognition banquet. Those receiving a special plaque and gold clover lapel pin for 10 years bf service were Sue Meckley, Abbottstown; Beverly Millar, Gettysburg; Ginger Myers, Littlestown; Gary Miller, Gettys burg; Linda Oneto, Biglerville; Brenda Petty, York Springs; and Charles Sherman, Abbottstown. Those receiving a special plaque and gold lapel pin with a pearl center for 15 years of service were Suzie Eckert, New Oxford; Jack Kump, Aspers; Donna Livelsberger, Gettysburg; Shirley Smith, York Springs; and Nadine Stock, New Oxford. Those receiving a special plaque and gold lapel pin with diamond center for 20 years of service were Jean Feeser, New Oxford; Daniel Hoffman, Gettysburg; Kay King, York Springs; Karol Sherman, Abbotts town; and Ed Shelter, Gettysburg. Frieda Johnson, Gettysburg, received a Revere silver bowl and gold lapel pin with a ruby center for 30 years of service. The Adams County 4-H program honored J.F. Waybrant & Sons, Gettysburg, with the 1992 “Part ners in 4-H” recognition. The honor was provided to J.F. Waybrant & Sons for their financial support of the Adams County 4-H program. They have also pur chased swine, sheep, and beef at the youth livestock sales to support 4-H members with their animal projects. 4-H members completing “Leadership Skills You Never Outgrow” project were recognized with a per sonalized certificate and a 4-H pen. Those honored were Abe Bucher, New Oxford; Kelly Merson, Lit tleslown; and Kelly Rockafellow, Littles town. The 4-H Leaders Banquet also included the annual meeting of the 4-H Clubs of Adams County, Inc. The 4-H leaders elected the following as directors for a three-year term: Suzie Eckert, New Oxford; Wilbur Slothour, Aspers; Dawn Bodenberg, Gettysburg: and Dr. John Dodson. Gettysburg. Annual Holiday Meeting “What Goes Around Comes Around” is the theme of the Penn State York Cooperative Extension’s annu al holiday meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 29 at the 4-H Center near Bair. The all-day session starts at 9:30 a.m. and concludes at 2:30 p.m. This year there will be an evening session from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. which will offer a repeat of the two featured programs from the daytime meeting. Phyllis Frey will share the folklore, myths, legends, facts, and fancies surrounding “The Evolution of San ta Claus.” She has created more than 40 Santas which show his many forms starting 2000 years before Christ to the present-day Santa Claus Christenna Stamm and Hettie Wengert from Leba non County team up to show their gift and decorating ideas using ticked fabric as their base. In addition to the above presentations, the daytime program will include “Gifts of Love” presented by Michelle Rodgers and special entertainment. Exhibits by homemaker groups will be on display throughout the day and evening. Tickets for the event cost $3.50 for day and $2.50 for evening. They may be purchased before October 22 from the Penn State Cooperative Extension, 112 Pleasant Acres Road, York. PA 17402. Please make checks payable to “Extension Service Special Fund.” No tickets will be sold at the door. Those attending the daytime session should bring a bag lunch. Beverage will be provided. The committee will be accepting donation of non-perishable food items to be used in holiday baskets for families in the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program. Child care will be available during the day time ses sion only for toddlers and preschoolers at a cost of $3 per child.
