Lebanon Holds 75th Extension Meeting

Meeting of the Lebanon County
Cooperative Extension Associa
tion was held recently at the
Schaefferstown Fire Hall. The
event also served to recognize the
efforts of volunteers in the 4-H
and Master Gardener programs
during the past year.
President Lloyd Early presided
at the meeting attended by about
150 persons. The program entitled
‘Two views of Poland in the 90’s”
was presented by Enos Heisey of
Ml Gretna and ZoAnn Parker,
Extension 4-H agent from Lancas
ter County.
Heisey, a retired executive from
Agway visited Poland in fall of
1991 under the sponsorship of the
Volunteers in Overseas Coopera
tive Assistanace to provide gui
dance to farmer groups as they
move from Communist-type
cooperatives to a free market-type
economy.

industry issues.

activities was distributed and is
available to county residents by
contacting the Cooperative Exten
sion Office at 270-4391.
Extension programs in a wide
variety of topics are available to
county residents without regard to
race, religion, sex, national origin,
handicap, age or veteran status.
During the past year, county
staff and consultants presented
374 programs to more than 10,000
participants. In addition, 173 adult
volunteers in the adult and youth
programs held 499 meetings
attended by more than 3,000 per
sons. Nine hundred eighty-six 4-H
members were enrolled in 1,433
projects.
In reporting outreach efforts, it
was noted that 84 different circu
lar letters were prepared and mail
ed to 40,585 persons. Fifteen
agencies cooperated in the distri
bution of parent education
materials.
