The 751 h Annual Meeting of the Lebanon County Cooperative Extension Associa tion was held recently at the Schaefferstown Fire Hall. The event also served to recognize the efforts of volunteers in the 4-H and Master Gardener programs during the past year. President Lloyd Early presided at the meeting attended by about 150 persons. The program entitled ‘Two views of Poland in the 90’s” was presented by Enos Heisey of Ml Gretna and ZoAnn Parker, Extension 4-H agent from Lancas ter County. Heisey, a retired executive from Agway visited Poland in fall of 1991 under the sponsorship of the Volunteers in Overseas Coopera tive Assistanace to provide gui dance to farmer groups as they move from Communist-type cooperatives to a free market-type economy. The Waynesboro and Central Maryland locals of Atlantic Dairy Cooperative’s District 10 will hold their annual dinner meeting Oct 29 at 7 p.m. at the New Mid way Fire Hall near Woodsboro, Md. Robert M. Dever, Atlantic’s assistant general manager, will be the guest speaker. Dever will report on the cooperative’s 1991-1992 fiscal year and dairy industry issues. Elected to the extension board of directors for the next two years were Ann Arnold, Harold Bollin ger, Lloyd Early, Gail Shiner and Carol Ungemach. Martha Gregory, 4-H coordina tor presented certificates of appre ciation to 4-H leaders for this past year’s service and presented spe cial recognitiowpins to the following: Five years - Barbara Seibert and Darlene Habecker, Kelly Helpers Club; 10 years - Harvey Bomgard ner of NoSoAnnDairy Club, and Elijah Arnold Jr. with Happy Var iety Club; 15 years - Karen Wag ner of the Avon-East Lebanon area. Mary Bell - with happy Vari ety, and Fran Bushong with South Mountain; 20th year - Alvena Kneasel of Mt. Zion and Richard Kreider with the Swine Club; 25 taken for district director. Current director C. Rodman Myers of Thurmont, Md., is retiring from the board following seven years of service. In additon. Quality Premium Awards are to be presented to John T. and Julie A. Mayer of Taneytown, Md., William R. Powell 111 and Homan E. Bendig of Union Bridge, Md., and Karl D. and Bonnie L. Wantz of Taney town, Md. Receiving 100-hour volunteer appreciation certificates were Lin da Leedy and George Belicka. Deborah Hartman was awarded special certificates for 500 hours of volunteer work and service to the State Master Gardener Steer ing Committee. An annual report of Extension activities was distributed and is available to county residents by contacting the Cooperative Exten sion Office at 270-4391. Extension programs in a wide variety of topics are available to county residents without regard to race, religion, sex, national origin, handicap, age or veteran status. During the past year, county staff and consultants presented 374 programs to more than 10,000 participants. In addition, 173 adult volunteers in the adult and youth programs held 499 meetings attended by more than 3,000 per sons. Nine hundred eighty-six 4-H members were enrolled in 1,433 projects. In reporting outreach efforts, it was noted that 84 different circu lar letters were prepared and mail ed to 40,585 persons.
