The video was released by William Richards, chief of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Soil Con servation Service (SCS), and William Reilly, administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Produced with the nonprofit organiza tion Winrock Interna tional, the video is for general interest, envir onmental, and agricul tural audiences. Richards noted that the two agencies have worked together for some time. SCS has assigned a water quality specialist to each EPA region. Both SCS and EPA see the video as one of many common efforts toward conserv ing the nation’s natural resources. Raymond Burr narrates the video. Burr has a 40-acre farm in California, where he grows grapes and orchids, and raises sheep. As a farmer, he said he is pleased to have had a pan in mak ing a video that portrays U.S. farmers’ concern for wildlife, the envi ronment, and for sus taining America’s agri cultural base for future generations. The video is being distributed by the National Association of Conservation Districts which represents local soil conservation dis tricts.
