Ciba-Geigy Introduces Copper Fungicide GREENSBORO. N.C. The Environ mental Protection Agency (CPA) has approved Ridomil®/ Copper 70W fungicide, a prepack of metalaxyl and copper hydroxide. It is effective against a wide range of fungal pathogens and controls diseases caused by the Phycomycete family of fungi in various fruits and vegetables. When applied according to label instructions, Ridomil/ Copper provides pre ventive control in pota toes of late blight and tuber rot caused by Phy tophthora infestans, pink rot caused by P. crythroseptica, and Pythium leak caused by Pythium spp. In radishes, the fungicide effectively controls white rust caused by a foliar Oomycete fun gus. In carrots, the fol iar Ridomil/Copper 70W treatments com pliment the at-planting Ridomil 2E application to provide extended control of soil-borne Pythium spp. In addition, Ridomil/ Copper controls Phy tophthora fruit rot and late blight in tomatoes and Pythium spp. and Phytophthora capsici in peppers.
