A spokesman for the council said this week, “Along with pony rides, there will be games to break in the evening’s fun which starts at 7:30 p.m. in the East Petersburg Elementary School on May S. The evening’s entertainment will be highlighted by a well-known pro fessional magician along with Alfred State ALFRED, N.Y. A Life Sciences Career Day for high school juniors and younger stu dents interested in agri culture and allied health fields is scheduled Fri day, May 8, at Alfred State College of Technology. Prospective students and their families are invited to travel to the campus for the 1-4 p.m. event, said Deborah J. Goodrich, director of admissions. “Regardless of your ultimate college choice, this will provide you with a chance to explore the career opportunities available in 18 curricu lums at Alfred State College,” Goodrich notes in letters sent area youths. These curriculums will be spotlighted: Agricultural Busi ness, Agronomy, Ani mal Science, General Agriculture, Agricultur al Science, Agricultural Biotechnology, Flori culture Merchandising, Floriculture Production, Landscape Development. Also, Medical Labor atory Technology, Med ical Records, Nursing, Medical Assisting, Chemical Technology. Science Laboratory Technology, Medical Transcriptionist, Cellu lar Biotechnology, Chemical Biotechnology. Alfred State gradu ates with degrees in these programs “enjoy an outstanding place ment rate, whether they choose to enter directly into the work force or transfer to complete a baccalaureate degree,” the admissions director said. Throughout the career day event, faculty members will be present to provide curriculum specific information as well as tours of laborat ory facilities. Admissions and financial aid representa tives will be available to provide information, with campus tours offered on a continual basis.
