by Larry E. Hughes of Triple L
Farm brought the sale high of
$5,000. Bought by K-Hill Farm of
Abbottstown, the bull’s index
ratio was 107, with 100 as
average.
Overall, the sale brought in
$85,450 for sellers with an aver
age of $1,554 per bull.
The first bull entering the ring
for Auctioneer Mike Jones of
West Point, Georgia, was a Here
ford. Of the 14 Herefords sold, the
highest one went to Sire Power,
Inc. for $2,600. The Hereford herd
averaged $1,429 per bull with
indexes ranging from 96 to 117.
Sold from high index to low
within each breed, a change of
breed in the showring usually
meant new buyers and prices.
Twenty-two Angus bulls fol
lowed the Herefords. William
