“The W-L I planted two years
ago is giving me better yields
and higher protein than any

I had to take it out in the third

1991 Dairy
(ConflnuKi from Pag* A 26)
Add lines D and E and enter the
result on line F. This value is the
opportunity cost per hundred
weight of reduced milk tnarket
ings in 1991.
The breakeven marketing
adjustment is found by dividing
line A by line F. Enter the result
on line G. This amount determines
how much milk should be mark
eted above 1990’s production
level to justify an increase in milk
production. In the cull example,
the breakeven adjustment is 59
hundredweights. The dairy farm
should market at least 59 hundred
weights more milk in 1991 than in
1990 to justify increased produc
tion. If milk marketings will not
increase by at least 59 hundred
weights, then it would be more
profitable to market at 1990’s
level
