But Wendy is as thrilled with her duties today as she was when cho sen from 33 contestants a year ago. “I started going to the Somerset County Fair when I was a little girl about three-years-old,” Wendy said. “I always wanted to see the Fair queen and I dreamed of the day that I could be one too.” After being crowned at Some rset County Fair, Wendy competed with contestants across the state for the Pennsylvania title. The ’ daughter of James and Mary Will from Berlin is now a freshman at California University of Pennsylvania where she is majoring in elementary education. Before she went to college, Wendy kept busy with 4-H pro jects in dairy, beef, pigs, sheep, baked goods, canned vegetables and photography. The Wills have a 650-acre part nership with Wendy’s grandpa and two uncles. They milk 86 cows three times daily. Before Wendy went to college, she often helped her dad with the night shift milking. “Milking three times a day works out well because we all take our turns,” Wendy said. Wendy also picked up some photography tips from her dad who also has a side business, Jim’s Photo Service, which does aerial and wedding photography. During the Fair Convention held in Hershey on January 23 to 25, Wendy will crown a successor. She said, “As Farm Show Queen there was nothing that I did not like to do. I got to meet some of the nicest people in Pennsylvania. Every moment has been outstanding.” Excellence Since 1903 CONTACT: 1-800-447-7436 P.O.
