loves antique John Deere tractors. So, why not let one of
them fill the role of Santa Claus in the family’s annual
Christmas tractor display? Behind Santa Deere’s flowing
white whiskers and festive, red fabric hat is Knaub’s
restored John Deere Model R.

I Dare You
Leadership Award
Recipients Named
Michael Comman and Amy
Jones, both of Carlisle, have been
awarded the national I Dare You
Leadership Award in recognition
of personal integrity, balanced liv
ing, and motivation for leadership.
The honor was presented by Mark
Yarish of Knisely’s Agriculture
Center at ceremonies held at the
4-H achievement banquet
recently.
The I Dare You Award is made
available each year by the Ameri
can Youth Foundation in coopera
tion with 4-H leaders and county
agents across the country. The
award was first offered in 1941 by
William H. Danforth, founder of
the Ralston Purina Company in St.
Louis, who dared young people to
achieve their highest potential and
to influence others through lives
of service. The award takes its
name from the book, “I Dare
You,” written by Danforth, in
which he commends the balanced
life of mental, physical, social,
and spiritual development as the
backbone of leadership.
Michael and Amy were recog
nized for their character, responsi
bilities accepted, dedication, and
for participation in leadership at
4-H activities and personal inter
est in promoting what the 4-H
stand for. -
