Chambersburg 4-H Horse & Pony Club The Chambersburg 4-H Horse and Pony Club recently held their 17th annual awards banquet at Grandview Elementary School. The following awards were presented: Best Project Book Awards wait to Brooke Diehl, Best Tiny Trot ter, Renee Bowman, Best Novice; Angela Cosey, Best Tenderfoot; Beverly Miller, Best Junior, and Karlen Zimmerman, Best Senior. Perfect Attendance Award reci pients were Beth Barnett, Renee Bowman, Beth Diehl, Brooke Diehl, Robert Faith, Larissa Mel lon, Beverly Miller, Kathryn Rin ger, Aimcc Wolgemuth, and John ny Wolgemuth. 60 Point Awards were earned by Beth Barnett, Renee Bowman, Heidi Coccagna, Beth Diehl, Brooke Diehl, Robert Faith, Trisha Martin. Beverly Miller, Kathryn Ringer, Aimee Wolge muth, and Johnny Wolgemuth. The High Point Junior Award was earned by Beth Diehl with 173 points, and the High Point Senior Award was earned by Beverly Miller with 251 points. Production awards went to Beverly Miller for first place and Robert Faith for second place. I Dare You Leadership Award Recipients Named Michael Comman and Amy Jones, both of Carlisle, have been awarded the national I Dare You Leadership Award in recognition of personal integrity, balanced liv ing, and motivation for leadership. The honor was presented by Mark Yarish of Knisely’s Agriculture Center at ceremonies held at the 4-H achievement banquet recently. The I Dare You Award is made available each year by the Ameri can Youth Foundation in coopera tion with 4-H leaders and county agents across the country. The award was first offered in 1941 by William H. Danforth, founder of the Ralston Purina Company in St. Louis, who dared young people to achieve their highest potential and to influence others through lives of service. The award takes its name from the book, “I Dare You,” written by Danforth, in which he commends the balanced life of mental, physical, social, and spiritual development as the backbone of leadership. Michael and Amy were recog nized for their character, responsi bilities accepted, dedication, and for participation in leadership at 4-H activities and personal inter est in promoting what the 4-H stand for. -
