Owned by Smysers Richlawn Farms in York County, Stella was milked two times per day and had a high of 192 lbs. of milk per day. When her 7yl 1m laction was completed, she had the state record of 41,195 m 1155 f 1189 p. The year-end lactation reports were released this week from the State DHIA office. York County Holstein breeders have honored Paul King by inducting him into the associa tion’s Hall of Fame. King’s addition to the York County Holstein Hall of Fame capped the group’s annual meet ing, held last week at the Winter- Mercner, Bair To Lead State Council STATE COLLEGE (Centre Co.) Carol Mercner, Director of Member and Public Relations at Keystone Farm Credit, was recently elected as President of the Pennsylvania Council of Coopera tives. Awarding of the honor followed a slide program presentation by Paul and Kathy King on mission work they took part in earlier this year. Bom in Damascus, Maryland, Paul grew up on the Lesley King and Sons Kingstead Farms. He and Kathy moved their family and herd to the Delta area of York County in 1968, after dairying on The Farm Family of the Year Award belongs to the Bill Ammon Family. So when David Schaffer, district conserva tionist for the Soil Conservation Service, presented his half of “A View of Conservation Activities in Mifflin County” at the joint agri cultural banquet held at the Came- 600 Per Copy their own in Maryland for seven years. The Kingway herd was well known on the local and state show circuit, winning numerous local championships and honors at York shows, and several premier breeder awards at Pennsylvania Farm Show. Through slides, those attending the banquet saw, over the years, accomplishments by these associ ations in conserving Mifflin County’s invaluable soil.
