Reining, winner was Annie Johnston 4-H Horse Show Eight Warren County 4-H horse clubs held their annual county roundup recently. More than 60 4-H members competed by showing their horses in grooming and showmanship and English and Western performance classes. In the senior grooming and showmanship class for 4-H’ers 16 years of age or older, Becky Smith of the Lander Mustangs placed first. Other seniors who placed included: 2-Kodee Miller of the Saddlelites and 3- Stacy Hess of the Saddelites. The best showman in the inter mediate group (age 13-15 years) was Tom Clopp of the Warren County Trail Blazers. Also placing in this division were 2- Heather Sleeman of the Grand Valley Gouchos and 3- Kirk Guiher of the Trail Blazers. Julie Long of the Pittsfield Bronc Busters placed first in the junior showmanship and groom ing class. Many of the competing 4-H members who placed at the county roundup will participate in the Dis trict IX 4-H Horse Show, Sept. 6-8, at the Venango County Fair grounds, Franklin. Recently, Cumberland Valley High School hosted Capital Reg ion 4-H Night In this event, seven county 4-H’ers got together to give their presentations. This was the second step for them because they were required to have given their pre sentations at the county level. There were a total of 87 impromptu, public speakings, and presentations given. Franklin Co. had the most num ber of speakers. The Franklin Co. 4-H Shepherds had seven 4-H’ers who participated in this event Joseph Peppemick of Willow Hill received a gold ribbon for his presentation on beekeeping. He gave his presentation from experi ence of an individual project at home with the help of Robert Coady of Dry Run. Rachel Coady of Dry Run received a blue ribbon for her pre sentation on bread baking. Car men and Rachel’s presentations were both on bread baking because they are members of the Shepherds Ridge 4-H Home Eco nomics Club. Beckee Horst of Chambersburg received a blue ribbon for her pre sentation on making a rope halter, from experience in the Shepherds Club. Scott Sollenburger of St. Thomas received a blue ribbon for his presentation on different breeds of sheep, with experience from the Shepherds Club.
