818-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, August 31, 1991 Located In the Dairy Products Building at the New York State fairgrounds, 600 pounds of butter has been crafted into an old-fashioned Ice cream cart. The sculpture also depicts a young lad enjoying his double-dip cone and a little girl anxiously awaiting hers. Raymond Mackintosh of Ontario, Canada Is the creator and designer of the sculpture. He and his wife, Louise, spent six days Inside the 35-degree refrigerated glass case sculpting the butter. The temperature must be nearly freez ing so the butter Is neither too runny, nor too brittle to shape. The sculptor molds butter over a wire framework which gives shape to the figures. Butter donors include American Dairy Association and Dairy Council, Dairylea Cooperative and Eastern Milk Pro ducers. The butter Is donated to charity after the Fair.
