The ninth annual Chester County 4-H Market Lamb Sale held at the Goshen Fairgrounds easily compared to other Chester County sales in past years. Aquilante’s Meat Market, Berwyn, was the volume buyer, purhcasing 11 lambs. The owner, Aquilante, and his son are pictured wiht the lambs. The champion medium weight was exhibited by Hans Stoltzfus, Elverson, which was purchased for $1.35/pound by Waiter M. Dunlap & Sons, Lancaster. Representing Dun lap’s is Ken Smoker, Parkesburg. Hans Stoltzfus, Elverslon, also exhibited the champion lightweight, which was purchased for $1.40/pound by Annette Johnson of Downingtown. . ■‘9>'' P* lon medium weight, which was purchased for $1.50/pound by Ration Maker East, Inc., Asheboro, N.C. Bill MacCauley, Atglen, represents Ration Maker. Bank Supports Market Lamb Sale The grand champion lamb, shown by junior member Maria Stoltzfus, Elverson, was bought by Brandywine Savings Bank of Downingtown for $3.70/pound. The bank, the purchasing bidder from 1985 to 1991, has strongly supported the 4-H sheep clubs of Chester County. The reserve grand champion lamb was shown by Kendra Stoltzfus, El verson, and was purchased by Keystone Farm Credit, Avondale for 2.15/pound. Keystone Farm Credit has also purchased lambs from County 4-H members since the sales inception in 1985. The overall average of the sale was $1.60/pound on all 31 lambs sold, breaking the current market price by almost $l.lO per pound. Aqilante’s Meat Market, Berwyn, was the volume buyer of the even ing, purchasing 11 lambs which was very much appreciated by the 4-H’ers. Aquilante has been a very strong supporter since 1985. Purchasing the champion medium weight, exhibited by Hans Stoltzfus, Elverson for $1.35/pound, was Walter M. Dun lap & Sons, Inc. who has been a staunch supporter of the county lamb sale. The champion light weight, also exhibited by Hans Stoltzfus, was purchased by Annette Johnson of Downingtown for $1.40/pound. The reserve champion medium weight, exhi bited by Kevin Smoker of Parkes burg, was purchased by Ration Maker East Inc. of Ashcboro N.C. for $1.50/pound. The reserve champion lightweight was pur chased by Bob Wiggins, owner of Wiggins Auto Tags in West Goshen, for $2.00/pound.
