Bi2-Lancastar Farming, Saturday, July 20,1991 Preparations for the Poultry Queen Pageant are being made by Alternate Poultry Queen Bev Cinder, contestants Diane Musser and Marlene Enck, and Lancaster County Poultry Queen Deb Wolgemuth. Poultry Prepare LOU ANN GOOD Lancaster Fanning Staff LANCASTER (Lancaster Co.) —lt isn’t too early to start thinking about the Lancaster County Poul try Queen Pageant. Scheduled for August 2 at 6:15 p.m. at the Lancaster Farm and Home Center, the pageant is an annual event. This year, the winner also will serve as the Pennsylvania Poultry Queen. To prepare for the gala competi tion, current Lancaster Poultry Queen Debra Wolgemuth held a informal get-acquainted night at her home on July 12 for the contes tants who are preparing their skit presentations. Contest elibilily requires parti cipants to be from a poultry farm or affiliated to work related to the poultry industry. She must have finished her junior year of high school and have a sincere interest in promoting the industry at para des, banquets, and school promotions. Pageant competition includes a skit presentation lauding the nutri tional value of poultry and eggs and answering an impromtu question. The queen will receive a $5OO scholarship or $3OO in cash plus numerous prizes and a $l5O war drobe fund. The alternate queen will receive a $3OO scholarship or $l5O in cash. The five contestants preparing for the pageant include the following: Michelle Lee High, a 1991 Manheim Central graduate, plans to enter Reading Hospital School of Radiology in the fall. She lives with her parents Donald and Bar bara High at 3460 Echo Valley Rd., Manheim. She has a brother, Michael, and a sister Denese. Her father is employed by Pennfield Feeds. Michelle enjoys singing, fris bee, and soccer, and has partici pated in choir and yearbook activi ties during high school. Diane Louise Musser is a 1991 graduate of Elizabethtown Area High School. She plans to major in art education at Kutztown Univer sity. Her hobbies include field Contestants For Pageant Michelle High Diane Musser hockey, track, 4-H clubs in sheep, beef, pig, and judging, drawing and painting. In high school, Diane was active in band, chorus, field hockey, track, ODE to youth club, pep club, and Future Business Leaders of America. She helps her parents Harold and Judy Musser with their 240,000 broiler operation in Eli zabethtown. She has two brothers, Greg and Doug, and a sister Tricia. Marlene Renee Enck has her sights set on teaching math or dis abled children. As a Solanco High School senior, she plans to attend Mansfield College after graduation. The 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Enck of 573 Camar go Rd, Quairyville, helps with 60,000 layers on her grandparents’ (Mr. and Mrs. Robert Groff) farm. Marlene also helps milk 80 cows at the farm. Cheerleading, track, silk squad, honor society, band, 4-H sewing and cooking, and serving as vice Marlene Enck Jennifer Moyer Lori Marie Mitchell president of a 4-H club, occupies much of Marlene’s time. In addi tion she has been on workcamps to Kentucky and Puerto Rico with her church youth group. When she isn’t busy, she likes to jump on her trampoline and walk through the woods with her dogs, Mollie and Josey.
