David Lichty. son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lichty, Paradise, was presented the American Agricul turist Foundation Award at com mencement exercises at Pequea Valley High School Friday night The award, presented to the senior in vocational agriculture showing the greatest achievement and most accomplishment in agri culture during the year, carries with it a certificate and a book entitled, “How To Write and Speak for Rural Audiences.” Lichty. the fourth senior in his school to win the annual award, earlier in the year won the Key stone Farmer degree in the Future Farmers of America. He also was given the DeKalb award for agri cultural excellence in his school. -Marjorie Jane Thurston has been named assistant home eco nomist in Lancaster County. Dr. H. R. Albrecht, director of the Agricultural and Home Eco nomics Extension Service at the Pennsylvania State University, in announcing her appointment, said she will begin her duties June 19 & 70” 60” THIS WEEK and that she wall assist with the county’s adult and 4-H homemak ing program. -Elvin Hess, Elizabethtown, has been elected teacher of vocational agriculture in the Elizabethtown Area High School, it was learned this week. He will replace Marlin Hennin ger who has resigned to return to Lykens Valley. Dauphin County, to enter the feed mill and farm machinery business with his father and brother. Henninger organized the vocational agriculture depart ment at the high school two years ago. -Glenn A. Shirk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman A. Shirk, Quanyvil le Rl, today was named as assis tant county agent by Penn State University, effective June 19. -Society of Farm Women 6 vot ed to donate $5O to the Agriculture Center at the June 3 meeting of the group.
