CB-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, April 27, 1991 NEWPORT (Perry Co.)— A manure management field day was held recently on the M.W. Smith Farms. The purpose of the day’s activi ties was to demonstrate the latest equipment and technologies in manure storage, pumping, and spreading equipment and bedding materials. More than 60 farmers and agen cy representatives participated. The events were planned and coor dinated by the Smith’s, the Perry County Soil Conservation District, and Perry County Cooperative Extension. The following sales and service farms demonstrated equipment: McMillen Brothers, Loysville, Bodco manure pump, Badger tanker and Wic bedding chopper; Zug Farm Equipment, Miftlin lown, Houle manure pump, Patz tanker and a bedding chopper; Smith Equipment, Newport, Goosen bedding chopper; Walnut Dairy & Bam Equipment, Port Royal, J-star manure pump and Dynavenl bedding chopper. In addition, Lawrence Cauffman, Blain, demonstrated his truck mounted tanker. The meeting also showcased the Smith’s 12-foot deep circular poured concrete manure storage.
