The 95 beef bulls consigned to the 12th annual bull test at the Cornell Teaching & Research Center in Harford, NY, have completed 56 days of the 140-day test Despite changeable weather and uneven temperatures, the bulls are doing very well through the 2nd weigh period according to Test Director, William Greene. The 95 bulls average daily gain (ADG) for the 2nd weigh period was 3.74 lbs. This resulted in a cumulative daily gain of 3.76 lbs through the first two weigh per iods. The bulls have an average weight per day of age (WPDA) of 3.01 lbs. The 95 bulls from nine breeds represent fifty-seven breeders from throughout the Northeast, as well as one Montana ranch. The top-gaining bull this period was a Simmental (Test #583) con signed by Shoemaker Simmental, Mann’s Choice, PA. This bull has a cumulative ADG of 5.41 lbs. and a WPDA of 3.22 lbs. The fifteen Simmental bulls from 12 consig nors averaged 3.88 lbs. daily this period, with a cumulative ADG of 3.90 lbs. and an average WPDA of 3.19 lbs. The second top-gaining bull is an Angus (#539) with an ADG of 5.66 lbs.
