El2-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, February 2,1991 Potato Growers Will Meet HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.) — This year’s Potato Grow ers Institute promises to be an information-packed seminar on the most important problems and issues facing potato growers in the coming decade. The seminar will be held at Wil low Valley Family Resort at Wil low Street, located three miles south of Lancaster on Routes 222 and 272. Tuesday’s session will deal with table and process market panel discussions with an oppor tunity for audience interaction, breeding programs discussions, variety and seed presentations, etc. Presenters will be Dr. Robert Plaistcd, plant breeder/Comell; Dr. Steve Slack, New York State Seed Program/Comell; and vari ous buyers tables and process industries. During the Tuesday luncheon, Jerry Johnston, president of the Potato Board, will present an update on board activities. Also, a brief memorial service will be held for fellow growers, friends, and business associates of the Pennsylvania Potato Industry who passed away during 1990. Wednesday morning we will concentrate on environmental issues, food safety, etc. Opportun ity will also be made available for audience interaction. Presenters will be Jim Grace, Pa. DER; Ally.
