Wenk said recently that the Penn sylvania Farmers’ Association (PFA) is proposing to begin a speakers’ bureau pilot project at the county level. The goal of the speaker’s bureau is to put farmers know ledgeable about certain subjects and trained or practiced in speak ing before the public to speak in meetings and news interviews. Wenk said the idea behind the speaker’s bureau is to counteract some of the negative and counter productive information being given to the public by special interest groups with agendas con trary to the goals of the agricultur al community. There will be a Speaker’s Bureau Seminar at the 1991 annu al meeting, to be held in Hershey in late January. All members will be invited to attend the seminar, but one Speakers Bureau member will receive free lodging and meals for one night and one day at the meeting for doing the best job, based on number of speaking engagements and coverage by the local news media. Those interested in becoming part of the AGFA speakers bureau should contact David R. Wenk at (717) 677-9553.
