In addition, funds from universi ties and other agencies are utilized so that the Pork Board can lever age its checkoff dollars to direct approximately $1 million worth of pork industry research. The Pork Board funds produc tion research in areas such as swine nutrition, swine health, genetics, health, environment, management, marketing and facil ities. Some of the past checkoff funded research successes have led to the development of new swine vaccines, better nutritional recommendations, genetic improvement and pseudorabics (PRV) eradication tools. Production research is one of the many research categories funded by the Pork Board.
